Claim photos can no longer be taken at face value

Generative AI has made fabricating claim evidence trivial: a dent can be added to a genuine photo, water damage enlarged, a receipt produced from scratch — in under a minute, from a phone. VeriFly gives claims teams and investigators a forensic layer that assesses images and documents before they support a payout.

The real threat: AI edits inside genuine photos

The realistic fraud pattern is not fully generated fantasy images — it is AI editing of genuine photos. Generative fill in ordinary photo apps can add or worsen damage inside an otherwise authentic picture, with correct lighting, perspective and noise. Metadata looks normal, the photo was taken on the customer's phone, and nothing in the claim stands out.

Classic controls — EXIF checks, reverse image search, consistency rules — miss this class entirely, because the image is genuine on every external parameter. Detection has to happen in the image signal itself, where generative models leave measurable traces.

What VeriFly delivers in the claims flow

Automatic screening

Every incoming claim image is scored via API in seconds, without changing the customer's submission flow. Unremarkable claims pass; only deviating images are flagged for review.

Forensic reports for investigators

Flagged cases receive a full report: calibrated probability, findings from each analysis layer, metadata and platform traces, and a plain-language explanation that can be attached to the case file and exported as PDF.

Document analysis in the same flow

Receipts, invoices, certificates and medical documents are analysed with the same forensic approach — fabricated and edited documents often exceed images in volume.

VeriFly is developed with Nordic insurers and runs in commercial pilots with Danish carriers. Detection models are trained against a broad range of modern generators and editing tools and — critically for claims — on images in the compressed, resized form they actually arrive in.

Compliance as a precondition, not an afterthought

Insurance data is personal data. All VeriFly processing runs on servers inside the EU: inference, storage, logs and backups. Veriflied provides a DPA, technical compliance documentation and a complete audit trail per analysis. Read more about the technology under AI Image Detector or about verifying receipts under Document Verification.

Frequently asked questions

How common are AI-manipulated claim photos?

A growing and systematically under-detected problem. Nordic insurers are already seeing claims supported by AI-edited photos and AI-fabricated receipts, and the tools to produce them ship free inside ordinary phones and photo apps. Because the manipulations are invisible to the eye, they are typically only caught when something else in the claim raises suspicion — so reported numbers understate the real volume.

Our images arrive through apps, email and customer portals — does detection still work?

Yes. Claim photos have typically been compressed, resized and stripped of metadata in transit. VeriFly's models are trained specifically on such degraded material, and a separate metadata layer can often identify which platform an image passed through even when EXIF data has been removed.

Does VeriFly replace our investigators or existing fraud scoring?

No — it adds the layer they are missing. Existing fraud filters work at claim level with metadata and consistency rules. VeriFly assesses the image content itself at pixel level and returns a calibrated score plus a forensic report that plugs into your triage and investigation workflow via API or web platform.

How is GDPR handled?

All processing happens on servers inside the EU, without exception — inference, storage, logs and backups. Veriflied provides a data processing agreement, technical compliance documentation for your DPO and IT security teams, and a full audit trail per analysis. The setup has already been through insurer procurement reviews in commercial pilots.

Evaluate VeriFly on your own cases

We set up a closed evaluation on your own material — real claim images and documents, processed exclusively in the EU. You get a concrete report, not a sales deck.
